What is a League?
Most leagues are fun and social, but some can be competitive. Basically teams of either 1, 2, 3 or 4 bowlers play once a week. Like most other sports, each team plays a different team each week. Points are given to a team every week for winning. Most of the leagues are handicapped, so that it is even for everyone and some are scratch. Each week you pay for the cost of the games and a nominated amount into your league prize fund for end of league prize-giving.
What is a Handicap?
A handicap makes the game more even for bowlers of different skill levels. For example on a 100% of 180 handicap system, if you average 100 per game, you will get approximately 80 handicap and if someone else in your league averages 150 they will get approximately 30 handicap. So it really comes down to who beats their average by the most as to who will be the winner. Your handicap is added to your scratch score every game and will change weekly, depending on how well you managed to bowl the previous week.
